Jacking

DEFINITION: taking over content that previously had a different purpose

TRANSLATION: przejmowanie treści, które wcześniej miały inne przeznaczenie

‍EXAMPLE: Entertainment-jacking became hugely popular. Most chains of clothing shops come out with pop culture inspired T-shirts.

TRANSLATION: Przejmowanie treści rozrywkowych stało się szalenie popularne. Większość sieci ubranowiowych wypuściło koszulki zainspirowane pop kulturą.

to call on someone

DEFINITION: to ask someone to speak

TRANSLATION: oddać komuś głos, poprosić kogoś o zabranie głosu

EXAMPLE: Now, I'm calling on Tom to tell us about his new idea.

TRANSLATION: A teraz oddaję głos Tomowi, który opowie nam o swoim nowym pomyśle.

can't cut it

DEFINITION: to be unable to deal with something

TRANSLATION: nie dać sobie rady

EXAMPLE: If he can't cut it, we'll find someone who will.

TRANSLATION: Jeśli on nie da sobie rady, znajdziemy kogoś innego.

TO WARD OFF

DEFINITION: prevent something

TRANSLATION: zapobiegać, nie dopuszcza

EXAMPLE:  We found a serious error in the report. Luckily, we were able to ward off a disaster by correcting it in time.

TRANSLATION:  Znaleźliśmy poważny błąd w raporcie. Na szczęście udało nam się go poprawić na czas i zapobiec katastrofie.
