DEFINITION: a name used when we cannot remember the day of the week (esp. working from home during the pandemic)

 

TRANSLATION: nazwa na sytuację, w kt??rej nie pamiętamy jaki jest dzie? tygodnia, a wszystkie dni zlewają nam się w jeden (zw?aszcza podczas pracy z domu)

 

EXAMPLE: - Why didn't you call Mrs Smith on Wednesday? She was waiting for the info.

 

- Wednesday, Thursday, I don't even know what day it is today. It's all Blursday to me...

 

TRANSLATION: - Dlaczego nie zadzwoni?a? do pani Smith w ?rodę? Ona czeka?a na informacje.

 

- ?roda, czwartek, nawet nie wiem, jaki jest dzisiaj dzie?. Dla mnie wszystkie zlewają się w jeden...

to fawn over somebody

DEFINITION: to complement somebody too much and give them attention in order to gain something

 

TRANSLATION: podlizywać się, nadskakiwać

 

EXAMPLE: I hate the way Jane fawns over Bob. Everyone knows he's the boss' son but she does everything for him.

 

TRANSLATION: Nie znoszę, jak Jane podlizuje się Bobowi. Wszyscy wiedzą, ??e jest synem szefa, ale ona wszystko za niego robi.

Mogul

DEFINITION: a wealthy and influential businessperson

 

TRANSLATION: potentat

 

EXAMPLE: Bill Gates, the software mogul, has stepped down from his role as CEO of Microsoft and currently runs a charity foundation.

 

TRANSLATION: Bill Gates, potentat rynku oprogramowa? zrezygnowa? z roli prezesa Microsoftu i obecnie zajmuje się prowadzeniem organizacji charytatywnej.

DEFINITION: a company that introduces changes slower than others

 

TRANSLATION: sp????nialski, firma, kt??ra wprowadza usprawnienia wolniej ni?? inne

 

EXAMPLE: Download Inc. is still considered a laggard compared to other companies on the British market.


TRANSLATION: Download Inc. jest dalej uwa??ana za firmę, kt??ra wprowadza usprawnienia wolniej ni?? inne na brytyjskim rynku.
